Opportunities for High-flying Students
For those students whose performance is outstanding, there
are extended opportunities for acquiring new skills, research experience
and work experience.
Internships
Students are paid to take work on current research projects, and
given the opportunity to produce publications.
SUN Start programme
Each year Sun Microsystems recruits some of our best students
for a one year long work placement at various Sun laboratories. This
scheme is open to students who have completed their 3rd year of study.
IBM Internships
As well as funding two Informatics scholarships, IBM selects a number of
students for summer placements.
Prizes
The
Schools has a Student Prize Scheme which aims to recognize and reward
outstanding performance. Prizes are sponsored by the School, by
professional organizations such as the British Computer Society, and by
IT companies. The following companies sponsor prizes: Agilent
Technologies, Barclays Capital, Citigroup, Google, Microsoft, Unilever, Xerox and Real Time Engineering.
