Computing Support Requests

ALL Informatics Computing Services appear to be FUNCTIONING NORMALLY.
Tuesday 18th November, 2pm

ssh2.inf.ed.ac.uk (drookit.inf) has been turned off due to a failed air conditioning unit and a high temperature in 2501. Other services may be turned off if the temperature in that room starts to rise again.

Please use this form to send messages to the Computing Support team. Use it to report problems, to ask for new software or facilities, or just to mention anything you think we may be able to help you with.

If you have problems, please FIRST CHECK any relevant links below (these are all topics in the Support FAQ) - they may provide a solution immediately.

Some things are managed by other Support services, not us. In particular,

Filling in the form

We've cut down the amount of information that this form asks for, but we do need at least your username and your machine name, and of course your message.

Your DICE Username: we need to know who you are, where you are and how to contact you. We use your Informatics inf.ed.ac.uk "DICE" username to find out all this information from our LDAP directory service. You must enter a valid username here. If you're a student you should use "s" followed by your matric number.

Your computer's name: even if it seems irrelevant, please tell us the name of the machine that you're using now. Checking this with our inventory records usually allows us to find out about your computing environment and about where you are. If you're reporting a faulty computer put its name here instead.

Alternative E-mail address: please only fill this in if you want us to reply to an address other than your standard University one.

Subject: A quick summary of the problem.

Reset Form: Click this to start afresh.

Send Message: Click this to send your message to Support.

Support in person

The Support FAQ tells you where to find us in person.

Note: Old email addresses for Support are no longer valid. Please use this form instead of email.
