Prizes

The aim of the Informatics Student Prize Scheme is to recognize and reward outstanding performance.

The prizegiving events for the 2007/ 2008 academic year are scheduled as follows:

  • Undergraduate Prizegiving: Friday 23rd September 2008, 3.00pm in the Informatics Forum Atrium.
  • Winter Graduation Reception: Thursday 4th December 2008, 4.30pm in the Informatics Forum Atrium.

The School of Informatics wishes to thank the following sponsors for their support:

Agilent Technologies
Agilent Technologies award two prizes for performance in the combined Honours Informatics and Electronics degrees; one for the Junior Honours class, and one for the Graduating class.

Barclays Capital
The Barclays Capital Prize is awarded to the best overall student in Computer Science Junior Honours class.

British Computer Society
The British Computer Society (BCS) Prize is awarded for top performance in the Professional Issues course, taught in the third year.

Citigroup
The Citigroup Prize is awarded to the best third year System Design Group Project.

Sioban Clarke and Family
The Kevin Clarke Memorial Prize was established in 1993 in memory of Kevin Clarke, and is awarded to the best final year student for first class performance in Computer Science and Mathematics.

Freescale
The Freescale Prize is awarded to the best third year System Design Group Robot.

Google
The Google Prize is awarded for top performance in the CS/SE Individual Practical course, taught in the third year.

Real Time Engineering 

The Real Time Engineering prize is awarded to the top performing student in the Artificial Intelligence Large Practical, taught in the third year.  

Jim Howe
The Jim Howe Trust Fund sponsors two prizes: the Howe Undergraduate Prize for the best Artificial Intelligence final year student, and the Howe Masters Prize awarded to the best student in MSc Artificial Intelligence.

Informatics Prize for Best Project Web Site
This prize is awarded to the student who produces the best web site associated with their 4th year project.

Sidney Michaelson and Family
The Sidney Michaelson Prize was established in 1991 in memory of Sidney Michaelson and is awarded to the most deserving student.

Microsoft
The Microsoft Prize is awarded for the best final year project in the Computer Science class.

Unilever
The Unilever prize was established in 2006 and is awarded to the best graduate in Computer Science.

 Xerox
The Xerox Prize is awarded for the best dissertation by a student in MSc Artificial Intelligence.
