How to make an application

Applications for admission in academic session 2009-2010

The University will shortly be introducing a new on-line application process for admissions in the next academic session (i.e. September 2009 or later) and further details will appear here as soon as they are available.

Applications for admission in academic session 2008-2009

If you want to apply for admission in the current academic session (i.e. before September 2009) you must return signed, completed copies of the application form and the equal opportunities monitoring form by post.  As we require the forms to be signed we are unable to accept faxed, scanned or e-mailed documents.

When sending your application form please also supply us with:

MSc applicants must return their forms to the MSc Admissions Co-ordinator and all research degree (PhD/MPhil/MSc by Research) applicants must return their forms to the  Administration Officer (Research Degrees)

When to apply

Please see the timetable below as a rough guide. Although we make decisions about acceptance throughout the year, we encourage you to apply as early as possible. If you are also applying for one of our scholarships, then you must stick to the timetable.

mid-December
Deadline for applications for European Masters in Informatics (EUMI)
31 January Deadline for applications to the MSc/PhD in Neuroinformatics programme
mid-February
Deadline for applications which involve an Overseas Research Student Award
mid-March
All other applications
mid-September
Academic year starts for MSc students. Research students are also encouraged to start.

application Forms

The application forms are available to download either as RTF (Rich Text Format), which can be opened in a word processor package (such as Word), or as PDF (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader).

Depending on the version of Adobe Acrobat you have, and how it is configured, you may be able to fill-in the forms online. They may then be printed, signed and returned, along with any supporting documents.

Please read the Notes on Completion and the Terms & Conditions carefully before submitting your application.

If you cannot download the form, ask the Informatics Graduate School team to post one to you.
