Informatics Jamboree 2004
19 - 21 May
Appleton Tower Lecture Theatre 4
Crichton Street
The Jamboree kicks off at 5.15 on Wednesday 19 May with the prestigious Milner
Lecture by Professor Mihalis Yannakakis. In addition to the Milner Lecture
Professor Yannakakis, will give one other talk on Friday morning.
The Jamboree programme will contain talks from new Informatics professors, readers and lecturers,
in order of appearance: Phillip Wadler, Mary Cryan, Stratis Viglas,
Sethu Vijayakumar, Barbara Webb and Wenfei Fan. An exciting new
addition to this year's programme will be provided by, Richard Wheeler,
our Business
Development Executive, who discusses the
joy of inventing
- why we invent, what it means, and what to do with it when it's all
done. This will be followed by a entrepreneurship workshop led by Kevin
Johnston from Scottish Enterprise. These are
must attend events for all budding business entrepreneurs and inventors out there!
One major event of the Jamboree is the
poster competition,
with cash prizes, open to all postgraduate students. Research groups or
special projects are also invited to submit posters for display only.
The deadline for submissions is Wednesday 12 May 2004.
The Jamboree ends around midnight on Friday 21st May with a
Ceilidh.
