Poster Competition


The Informatics Jamboree starts at 5.15 pm on Wednesday, 21 May 2003, with the Milner Lecture. This year's Milner Lecturer is Professor Frank Kelly. He will will also give a talk on Thursday, entitled Brownian models of Internet congestion.

Our other invited speakers are Professor Ian Sommerville, Professor Lillian Lee . There will be talks by new informatics staff, Marielle Lange, Kousha Etessami, Frank Keller, . We are pleased to have Professor Peter Ghazal from the Scottish Centre for Genomic Technology and Informatics and Dr Mark Parsons from the National e-Science CentreNigel Goddard will talk about Neuroinformatics at Edinburgh. This year, we are introducing a new trend: on Thursday morning new postgraduate research students will give 'rapid fire' talks to introduce themselves and their research projects.

As in previous years, there will be a research poster competition with cash prizes for all postgraduate students.

There will be and ample lunches for everyone on both Thursday and Friday.

The final event of the Jamboree will be the traditional Ceilidh, which will take place on Friday 23 May 2003 in the Debating Hall, Teviot Row, Bristo Square. Everyone and their family are invited.
